Standard OperaƟng Procedures (SOP) – Manufacturing Units

Personal ProtecƟve Equipments like safety glass, gloves, etc. to be made available at all Ɵmes and all persons in plant should adhere to the usage.
Shed of the plant to have venƟlaƟon system to dispose off excess heat during summer. Materials used to construct to be of fire resistance for walls and sheds.
Plant to be at least 5 feet above the ground level (specially the storage areas blocks)
Flooding drainage system to be kept clean and acƟve particularly during rainy seasons.
Blocks in plant to have easy entry and exit.
Layout of the plant to be made visible at strategic points
Armed Security Guard to be deployed in adequate numbers depending upon the size of the plant.
Storage faciliƟes:
Finished Goods – Keep removing the FGs from the machine locaƟon to safe and designated areas on regular intervals onto the pallets.
Raw Materials – to be stored away from direct sunlight with proper fencing/closure. Storage to be away from electrical points and walls having openings and in proper manner.
Fire ProtecƟon: Fire exƟnguishers like CO2 / AFFF / Foam type fire exƟnguisher/ 50 KG trolley type). Should be clearly visible where installed and easily approachable
Smoke/Heat detectors/Sprinklers should be installed for early detecƟon of fire and Rubber mats should be kept in front of the same to avoid any electrical shock to the workers.
Hose Reels at each block of the plant to be installed which should be connected with dedicated pump and water storage tank as per standard norms for efficient firefighƟng.
LPG and similar cylinders be kept away from production and storage areas
Inflammable and combusƟble liquids to be stored away from production and storage areas in secured locations
Industrial (Not Domestic) Electrical systems/ fiƫngs should be properly conduit or concealed.
Fire exits to be made available at strategic points
ON Site Emergency Plan / Floor EvacuaƟon Plan to be installed for early escape in case of fire
Alarm System, Smoke DetecƟon System to be installed in storage and production areas.
CCTV cameras to be operaƟonal 24 hours.
Chemical should be kept in dedicated storage area as per Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Earthing Pit to be installed (like Pipe earthing; Plate earthing; Strip or Wire earthing; Rod earthing)
Lighting arrestor should be installed to avoid any loss due to lighting.
Safety Symbols and Hazard Signs to be installed throughout the plant:
Plant persons to be regularly trained.

Machineries – preventive maintenance schedule, calibration, over hauling, repairs, etc.
